The wife of slain Indian businessman Jayesh Kumar found herself under scrutiny as investigations into her late husband’s murder continued on Thursday, February 22.
Velji Jayaben Jayeshikumar, now in police custody for 14 days following her arrest and arraignment at the Kibera Law Courts, allegedly communicated with one of the four suspects on the day her husband was killed.Â
Initial reports indicated a chilling motive behind the crime, with indications of simmering domestic dispute prompting the Indian wife to seek assistance from an acquaintance to discipline her spouse. However, the deal did not go as planned.Â
According to Magistrate Irene Kahuya, Jayaben’s involvement in the murder plot came to light through phone analysis, revealing her contact with a suspect enlisted to “help discipline and torture her husband.”
“Jayaben is alleged to have been involved in the murder plot after phone analysis revealed that she was in contact with one of the four suspects who were arrested and arraigned at Kibera Law Courts on February 19th,” said Magistrate Kahuya.
Wife confesses
It is reported that she made a call to the alleged killers to execute the mission, with the other suspect sending her a text three hours later informing her that they had finished the job.
However, the Indian woman was disturbed that the husband had been killed yet the plan was just to beat and warn him.
Despite Jayaben’s opposition, the court granted the prosecution 14 days to further investigate her role in the harrowing affair.
