Self-proclaimed Bunge la Wananchi president Calvince Okoth alias Gaucho interrupted a court session Friday, July 21, to identify a police officer he claimed assaulted him.
Gaucho recounted his ordeal in the hands of police officers who held him in custody from Tuesday, July 18.
He told the court that the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) descended on him with slaps, kicks, and blows while he was in custody.
“This is the officer who came who others and assaulted me,” Gaucho told Magistrate Lucas Onyina while pointing towards the police officer.
Moreover, Gaucho informed the court that the same OSC also ordered his juniors to beat him up thoroughly.

As such, Gaucho’s lawyer Ndegwa Njiru asked the Magistrate to order the police to record the complaints as they plan to take legal action against the cop.
“You have ordered that we file a complaint before a police officer, but most likely, the officer will refuse to take our complaint as they are accused here,” he stated.
“We are requesting a further order that this complaint be recorded with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) or compel the police station to take our complaint since this court enjoys the protection of the constitution,” Njiru further pleaded with the Magistrate.
Police Harassment
Likewise, Njiru mentioned the issue of police harassment throughout the process of tracing his clients and defending them in court.
He alleged that the OCS was very arrogant to everyone, including the advocates.
Nonetheless, Magistrate Onyina ordered the OCS to ensure that the complaints were recorded at the station’s Occurrence Book (OB), and due process is followed in the guidance of the law.
