Relatives and family of slain Kisii Polytechnic student Lucy Boke have spoken for the first-time shedding light into the gruesome murder of their kin.
The family, while speaking to the media, said the suspect Stephen Orengo murdered their daughter on grounds of family relations.
According to Ngwena Matiro who is the victim’s uncle, Lucy Boke and the accused were relatives despite their previous romantic affair.
Likewise, Matiro narrated that the family flagged the relationship and the suspect’s choice of marriage to Lucy Boke.
Relatives Flagged Marriage Proposal
“The accused and Lucy Boke were relatives despite their romantic relationship the family rejected the marriage proposal,” said the uncle.

Afterwards Lucy, who accepted the rejection, decided to end the relationship in December 2022.
However, Orengo did not accept the breakup and reportedly pushed for the relationship which led to him allegedly stabbing Lucy.
“Lucy rejected the accused Orengo from December 2022 however Orengo went to try it by salvaging the relationship by following her to Kisii further killing her,” said Ngweno.
On the other hand, Lucy’s mother Amina Nyihembe while demanding justice for her murdered first-born daughter requested assistance in raising an infant the deceased left.
Lucy Boke Last Moments
The suspect Orengo, is said to have trailed Lucy Boke to her friend’s house and committed the act against her.
The deceased is said to have been stabbed by a knife several times in her neck on Thursday, November 8, 2023.
Likewise, the Police while reporting the incident said the Thursday night incident happened at Jogoo estate in the town where most of the students from the institution reside.

“From the information obtained there was a rough quarrel between the two inside the house in the estate before the murder occurred,” Kisii Central sub-county Police Commander Isaac Kimwele said.
“Everything in the room was scattered and there were stains of blood on the floor which is an indication there was a fight,” he added.

Nonetheless, the suspect, Orengo is said to have travelled from his home in Kuria West where he is on industrial attachment to come and meet the now deceased Lucy Boke when the incident occurred.
The police while visiting the scene also recovered the knife with blood stains which is said to have been used to commit the crime.
According to authorities the accused will be presented before Kisii lawcourts to answer on the murder in Jogoo Estate.
