The Nation Media Group (NMG) has announced changes in its Board of Directors following the exit of three members.
NMG on Friday, June 27, held its 62nd Annual General Meeting, during which Dr. Wilfred Kiboro retired after serving as a non-executive director since December 2006 and as chairman since September 2009.
During the meeting, Dr. Yasmin Jetha’s retirement as a non-executive director was also confirmed, while Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka retired as chairman of Monitor Publications Limited.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude for their dedicated service and wish them every success and fulfilment as they embark on the next chapter of their lives,” stated NMG in a statement.
Retired NMG Board chairman Dr. Wilfred Kiboro was also a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee.
The Group noted that his leadership was crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic when he guided it through a rapid digital transformation, ensuring continuity in news delivery and adapting to shifting audience needs.
“Beyond media leadership, Dr. Kiboro has been a great steward of the mission of His Highness the Aga Khan, upholding both the vision and the founding principles that guide Nation Media Group,” the Group noted.
“His unwavering dedication to ethical journalism, social impact, and inclusivity aligns with the values championed by the Aga Khan Development Network. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in expanding NMG’s regional influence, strengthening its presence in Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.”
Dr. Yasmin Jetha retires from NMG board
On her part, Dr. Yasmin Jetha’s retirement marks the close of a distinguished 16-year tenure that began in September 2009.
She leaves as NMG’s longest-serving international director.

During her time on the board, Dr. Jetha served as the chair of the Human Resources Committee, and as a member of both the Strategy & Investments Committee and the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and holds a master’s degree in management science from Imperial College (London).
Also, Dr. Jetha has been recognized for her professional contributions through an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Leicester and as an honorary Fellow of the University of Bedfordshire.

Her insights and forward-thinking approach helped shape the Group’s journey into the digital era, fostering a culture of agility, innovation, and high standards of accountability. Dr. Yasmin Jetha leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, passion, and purpose,” the Group noted.

Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka
At the same time, Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka retired as an independent director from the NMG Board following a 3-year dedicated period of service from February 2022.
During his tenure, he served as the chair of Monitor Publications Limited (MPL) and as a member of the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee.
Prof. Sejjaaka brought to the Group over 25 years of experience in management, governance, leadership, assurance, and strategy.
He has held notable positions, including partner at Sejjaaka, Kaawaase & Company, principal at MAT ABACUS Business School, and chair or board member of several leading organizations, such as the Petroleum Revenue Investment Reserve Advisory Committee, Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda Limited, UAP Old Mutual Life Assurance Limited, Uganda Development Bank Limited, and Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited.
