Police have arrested three suspects who allegedly killed a businessman on July 3, 2023, in Ebuyalu village, Vihiga County.
The 27-year-old businessman identified as Ibrahim Ondeko was in the company of his wife when he was murdered in cold blood.
Moreover, the two had just closed their shop around 10pm on that fateful day when thugs attacked striking them with machetes and killing Mr. Ondeko on the spot.
“Ibrahim Ondeko, 27, who was in the company of his wife, had just closed his shop at around 10pm, when the thugs struck and descended on them with machetes without warning, killing the man on the spot,” a statement by the DCI reads in part.
Mr. Ondeko’s wife survived the incident with life-threatening injuries on her left hand after it was almost chopped off by the thugs.

The Businessman’s Wife Recounts Day of the Incident
Furthermore, she reported that they were attacked on that rainy night by around five thugs who had their faces covered.
“We had just closed our shop and were headed home when the men who had their faces covered attacked us. One of them came after me with a machete and as I shielded myself, he struck my left arm almost dismembering it,” Ibrahim’s wife narrated as reported by DCI.
The 23-year-old woman escaped into the rain screaming for help upon which she met police officers on patrol.
Unfortunately, the officers who rushed to the scene were too late as the thugs had escaped leaving the businessman’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.
“The woman who escaped into the rain screaming met police officers on patrol who rushed to the scene but unluckily, found the robbers missing and the deceased’s lifeless body sprawled on the ground in a pool of blood,” DCI wrote on Friday, September 8.
Investigation and Arrest
Nonetheless, investigations into the gruesome murder of the businessman prompted the deployment of sleuths from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, who immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Police detectives rounded up three suspects including Ibra Amos 23, Dickson Munala 28 and Sypros Omondi after a comprehensive analysis of the scene and interviewing of witnesses.
Likewise, the three were found in possession of some of the deceased’s personal effects
As such, the trio who were arrested within Yala Township in Siaya County on Thursday, September 7 will be charged with murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code.
