Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) outsmarted and arrested two men claiming to be officers of the Directorate of Military Intelligence and National Intelligence Service (NIS).
In a statement on X, DCI stated that the two men had presented themselves at their headquarters seeking assistance to apprehend a suspect.
“The two, Samuel Morara Nyambane and Joseph Murimi Njue were arrested when they presented themselves at the DCI Headquarters as officers of the Directorate of Military Intelligence and National Intelligence Service respectively, seeking assistance in apprehension of a suspect,” the Friday, September 8 statement reads in part.
Moreover, the two individuals alluded to being frustrated by investigating officers in a case of obtaining money by false pretense that was allegedly recorded at Central Police Station in Nairobi.
The detectives at the DCI headquarters doubtful of this narrative asked the duo to produce their national identification documents (ID’s).

However, the suspects alleged to have not carried their Id’s in a bid to outwit the DCI officers.
Suspects Arrested and Arraigned
As such, this prompted further background checks where it was established that the two were impersonating military and NIS officers.
At this point, the suspects were arrested and subsequently arraigned in court.
According to the DCI, preliminary investigations reveal that the two men are part of a group of swindlers who have been conducting fraudulent activities and tricking members of the public.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the two are part of a group of swindlers who have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public,” the DCI wrote.
Nonetheless, the crime busters reported that the two suspects have been charged at Kiambu Law Courts with impersonating persons employed in the public service.

“Two suspects have been charged with impersonating persons employed in the public service at Kiambu Law Courts by detectives based at the DCI headquarters,” stated DCI.
Furthermore, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is now calling on anyone who may have fallen victim of the two to report at their Headquarters in Nairobi.
