Siaya Governor James Orengo made his first public appearance following reports about his whereabouts and health status.
Speaking in Karachuonyo during the burial of the late Karachuonyo MP Phoebe Asiyo on Friday, August 8, 2025, Orengo, who addressed the gathering in Dholuo, said he is doing well health-wise.
“I, Orengo, son of the bull, am alive. I, Orengo, with the strength of a stone, am not going anywhere,” Orengo said.
Orengo Addresses Rumors About His Health Condition
The Siaya Governor further said he is now stronger than ever, following speculations about his health status.
Besides addressing rumors about his health status, Orengo took the opportunity to eulogize Phoebe Asiyo, describing her as a champion of human rights and a defender of women’s rights.
“This lady here, I can say honestly, if we trace back to the movement of human rights and talking about women’s rights as human rights, Phoebe Asiyo was ahead of her time. She started that struggle before independence and continued with it,” Orengo stated.
