The Royal Media Services fraternity is mourning the death of former Citizen TV journalist and Managing Editor Herman Igambi.
According to family members, Igambi passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at his Kitale home in Burunda, Saboti Constituency.
Igambi had been battling cancer since 2015, and his wife, Susan Igambi, recalled that he started feeling unwell after his retirement.
“After his retirement, he started feeling unwell, and since then, he has received treatment on numerous occasions,” she said.

During the month of August, Herman’s health deteriorated further when he was overwhelmed and suffered a stroke that affected his left hand.
After the stroke, he was bedridden and remained unable to speak for four months.
Following his death, family and friends have expressed their condolences, remembering his contributions to the media industry and calling on the public to give the veteran journalist a befitting send-off.
A neighbor, Stephen Eboyi, said that Herman had mentored many notable individuals during his journalistic career.
“During his career, he mentored and nurtured talents like the late Catherine Kasavuli, Boke, and other renowned journalists in the media industry.
Let us stand together with Igambi’s family during this period of mourning so that we can give him a befitting send-off,” Eboyi remarked.
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi eulogized Herman as a person who made a profound impact on both the media industry and his community.

ODM Communications Director Philip Etale paid tribute, saying, “A great man has rested. A gentleman par excellence. RIP my former boss Herman Igambi—we simply called him HAMO.”
