The military added that it alleges that in the weeks and months following the attack, Qassas played a role in directing additional armed individuals toward an area referred to as the “Yellow Line,” describing it as a zone near active combat operations.
Additionally, IDF claimed that throughout the course of the war, he was involved in organizing or supporting additional attacks targeting both Israeli soldiers and civilians.
“Approached the area of the Yellow Line where IDF troops are operating in the southern Gaza Strip, in a manner that posed an imminent threat . Throughout the war, they led terror attacks against IDF troops and civilians of the State of Israel,” read part of the statement.
Although the Israel Defense Forces did not provide additional details regarding the location or circumstances of the strike, it’s reported that Muhammad Qassas died from injuries sustained during an Israeli airstrike that targeted him in the Sheik Nasser neighborhood, east of Khan Yunis.
His son was also killed by Israeli forces about one year ago.
