UN Honours Kenyan Soldiers for Excellence
The medal parade held at MONUSCO’s Force Headquarters was presided over by Madam Vivian van de Perre, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG), and Major General Khar Diouf, MONUSCO’s Deputy Commander.
Madam Vivian commended the Kenyan soldiers for their selfless contribution, saying their work formed the foundation of the mission’s success.

On his part, Major Stephen Otieno, the Officer Commanding KENSIG 3, termed the honour as a “milestone achievement,” reflecting the team’s determination to deliver under challenging conditions.
“Our achievements include installing CCTV networks in Goma, Beni, and Bunia, supporting the Counter-Rocket Artillery and Mortar project in Beni, and sustaining communications during key MONUSCO operations,” he stated.
