A close friend of former Cabinet minister Raphael Tuju has dismissed reports claiming that the former Cabinet Secretary has died.

In a Facebook post on Monday, August 3, 2026, Fanya Mambo Kinuthia said he had personally spoken with Tuju on Sunday evening and again on Monday morning, assuring the public that the former Jubilee Party official was in good health.

Kinuthia’s statement came after unverified claims about Tuju’s wellbeing spread on social media, prompting concern among his friends, associates, and members of the public.

Kinuthia Confirms Direct Communication With Tuju

Kinuthia, who described Tuju as a personal friend, said he was able to confirm the politician’s status through direct conversations rather than relying on reports circulating online.

He said the claims being shared on social media were false and urged users to avoid spreading information without verification.

“Good Monday Morning. Today is Monday 3rd August 2026. I have seen some idle busy bodies who have nothing to do posting lots of nonsense about the Hon.Raphael Tuju. This great man here is a personal friend. And I speak to him so often. I spoke to him last evening and we spoke this Morning. Raphael Tuju is ok. He is fine. He is alive,” said Kinuthia.

The confirmation sought to clear uncertainty among Kenyans who had come across the rumours and were seeking clarity on Tuju’s condition.

Kinuthia emphasized that information concerning someone’s health or life should be handled carefully, noting that false reports can create unnecessary fear and emotional distress.

Kinuthia Condemns Spread of Fake Death Reports

Fanya Mambo Kinuthia criticized individuals who share unverified claims saying that some individuals are dead.

He said such claims affect not only the individuals targeted but also their families, friends, and colleagues.

The remarks referenced a previous incident where false reports about journalist Jeff Koinange’s death circulated online, before being dismissed as untrue.

“You are the same busybodies who had killed Jeff Koinange. I remember speaking to Jeff on the morning when fools were posting about his death. Let us desist from posting unverified nonsense, especially about lives and well-being. It scares friends and hurts both family and friends. If you must post that someone is dead, please post your own father, or mother, or family members, not other people’s family members. I am so angry this morning,” Kinuthia said.

Raphael Tuju’s Health Status After Reported Medical Emergency

On March 24, 2026, Tuju was reportedly rushed to Karen Hospital after his health condition worsened while he was in custody.

Tuju had been held at Karen Police Station, where his family and legal representatives raised concerns over his condition and pushed for him to receive urgent medical attention.

The former Jubilee Party Secretary-General was arrested on March 23 after resurfacing following a period during which he had been reported missing. His disappearance had sparked concern after he went out of contact on Saturday evening.

Tuju was reported missing alongside his aide, Steve Mwanga, and a missing person report was filed at Karen Police Station.

Later, his vehicle was found abandoned along Miotoni Lane with its hazard lights still on, with his mobile phone remaining switched off.

His reported transfer to hospital came as those close to him sought clarity over his condition and called for appropriate medical care while he remained in custody.

He served as a Cabinet Secretary during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, where he was involved in coordinating government functions. He also served as the secretary-general of the Jubilee Party.

Before joining senior government positions, Tuju served as the Member of Parliament for Rarieda Constituency between 2003 and 2007. He later contested the presidency during the 2007 General Election.
