Former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has withdrawn his candidature for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP contest.
Through a statement issued by KANU Secretary Political Affairs Fredrick Okango, Gidion Moi quit the race to allow other candidates a chance to win the positions.
“Moi has since withdrawn his candidature so as to give the opportunity to the other candidates. He wishes them the best of luck in their endeavors,” part of the statement reads.

Moreover, the KANU Party Chairman had been nominated by his party to the EALA position along with its Secretary General Nick Salat.
Gidion Moi further thanked his party and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition for the opportunity and trust vested in him.
Nonetheless, ODM party has unveiled its list of nominees for the positions including Raila Odinga’s daughter Winnie Odinga. Likewise, Kenya Kwanza coalition presented a 15-member nominee list to represent them in the Assembly.
Furthermore, Kenya has nine slots at EALA.
To select winners for the slots, MPs will vote through a secret ballot and announce individuals with the most votes.
In addition, EALA members hold office for five years and are eligible for re-election for another period of five years.
EALA is an independent legislative arm of EAC, established under Article 9 of the Treaty for the establishment of the East African Community.
