The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has revealed how Kenyans can monitor the ongoing tallying process in real-time following the end of voting in the 24 by-elections held on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

The mini polls were conducted across several constituencies and wards.

Some of the closely watched contests include the parliamentary races in Mbeere North, Kasipul, Magarini, and Malava, as well as the Baringo senatorial by-election.

Polling stations opened at 6:00 a.m. and closed at 5:00 p.m., with IEBC noting that any time lost during the day due to unavoidable delays would be compensated.

All voters who were in the queue by 5:00 p.m. were allowed to cast their ballots, as confirmed earlier by the commission.

With the close of voting, tallying has already begun in different constituencies, marking the next critical phase of the election process.

In an update on Thursday evening, the IEBC noted that vote counting begins immediately after the close of polling.

Once the counting and tabulation are completed at each station, results from the by-elections will be accessible to the public through the official IEBC results portal: https://forms.iebc.or.ke.

How to check the November 2025 by-election results online

Kenyans can follow the tallying process by visiting the online results portal. The platform provides a structured layout that allows users to track progress across all participating counties.

The forms portal features three dropdown menus at the top, allowing users to filter results by position, form type, and election date. Below these filters is a table listing all counties alphabetically.

Each county entry displays the number of submitted result forms relative to the total expected for that county, showing real-time progress once uploads begin.

Counties such as Kilifi, Tana River, Garissa, Mandera, Embu, Machakos, Turkana, Samburu, Nandi, Baringo, Narok, Kajiado, Kakamega, Bungoma, Siaya, Homa Bay, Nyamira, and Nairobi City are listed on the portal. A search bar on the right lets users quickly find a county or polling unit.

This portal is updated progressively as Presiding Officers upload official results from polling stations.

Earlier, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon expressed deep concern over incidents of violence, intimidation, and disruptions reported in several areas during the by-elections.

IEBC condemns election-day violence

Ethekon said the behaviour witnessed in some polling zones amounted to hooliganism and lawlessness, actions that he maintains undermine constitutional requirements for elections to be free from violence, intimidation, improper influence, and corruption.

IEBC further noted that these incidents also contradict the principles guiding the conduct of accurate, verifiable, secure, and transparent elections.

“Such conduct further contravenes the Elections Act, 2011, the Election Offences Act, 2016, and the Elections (General) Regulations, 2012, which prohibit violence, obstruction of election officials, interference with voting and counting processes, and any behaviour that disrupts the orderly conduct of elections. Reports suggesting the involvement of political actors and public figures in actions that heighten tensions are especially concerning. Such behaviour is unlawful, irresponsible, and unacceptable in a democratic society,” he said.

As tallying and verification continue, Ethekon has emphasized that access to polling stations and tallying centres is strictly regulated by law.

The Chairperson noted that only authorised individuals, including IEBC officials, accredited agents, observers, assigned security officers, and accredited media, are permitted within these protected areas.

He urged security personnel to remain alert and proactive in responding to any further acts of violence or disorder during counting, tallying, and the announcement of results, calling on the National Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate all reported cases and ensure accountability for any individuals found responsible.

At the same time, IEBC indicated that its Elections Code of Conduct Committee would address complaints involving breaches of electoral laws and codes of conduct.
