The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that it has shortlisted candidates for the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) temporary positions.
This follows an earlier advertisement in which the commission invited applications for 12,520 temporary jobs for Kenyans.
IEBC Releases Voter Registration Shortlist
In a statement dated March 12, 2026, the Commission stated that all shortlisted candidates have already been contacted individually.
“Kindly note that for those who applied for the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) temporary jobs, the Commission has shortlisted candidates and communicated to the shortlisted persons,” the statement read.
The commission has also stated that interviews for the shortlisted applicants are currently ongoing, and successful candidates will be notified directly, with training schedules to follow.

“Interviews are currently ongoing. The Commission will communicate with the successful candidates and inform them when the training will begin,” stated IEBC.
IEBC assured applicants that the next phase of communication will be directed to those who successfully pass the interviews.
Successful candidates will receive official instructions regarding the start dates and details for their training ahead of deployment.
The ECVR exercise is part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to strengthen voter registration and enhance preparedness ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
Thousands of Kenyans have shown interest in the positions, including Voter Registration Clerk, ICT Clerk, and Voter Registration Assistant (VRA).
Requirements for ECVR Position
Kenyans have also raised concerns about the election criteria the commission used.
During the advertisement, IEBC outlined requirements that applicants should consider on the application.
Candidates were required to have:
- Copy National Identification Card
- Copies of academic certificates
- Copies of any other relevant testimonials
Voter Registration Clerk
Minimum qualifications and requirements include:
- Be a Kenyan citizen aged 19 years and above.
- Hold a minimum KCSE C- (minus) or its equivalent.
- Possess computer literacy and ICT skills.
- A diploma in ICT, Statistics, Education, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and confidentiality

ICT Clerk
Minimum qualifications and requirements include:
- Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, and networking.
- Ability to troubleshoot common ICT issues under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, neutrality, and confidentiality.
- Must be a Kenyan citizen and a registered voter.
- Availability to work long hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Voter Registration Assistant (VRA)
Minimum qualifications and requirements include:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen and a registered voter.
- At least 21 years old, and residents of the constituency/ward they are applying for.
- A minimum of a Diploma in ICT or a related field is required.
- Availability for the entire registration period.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated integrity, impartiality, and respect for diversity.
- Willingness to work long hours and under field conditions.
