President Wiliam Ruto on Monday, February 10 warned guests who arrived late for his State House meeting.
While addressing diplomatic corps to heads of missions and international organizations, President Ruto urged the government officials to keep time in the upcoming meetings.
“We were supposed to start this meeting at 9:00 a.m but I was told that there was a bus that came late that there was a bus carrying some important people.
I hope the bus next time will keep time,” Ruto said jokingly.
Ruto Urges State Officials to Keep Time
The State House meeting was attended by senior government officials including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Foreign Affairs PS, Korir Sing’oei and Cabinet Secretaries including CS for Education Julius Ogamba and Environment CS Aden Duale.
In his address to the diplomats, President Ruto said that this year’s annual event of his diplomatic corps address is a reflection on past achievements, a deepening of collaborations with the diplomatic community, and a setting of future priorities.
At the same time President Ruto acknowledged the achievements that State Department of Diaspora Affairs has done to the Kenya Citizens living abroad.
“The State Department of Foreign Affairs was established in 2022 to protect, empower and support Kenyan citizens abroad. I am very proud of what that State Department has been able to achieve in the last two short years,” Ruto said.

The Head of State called on the Diplomatic Community to explore opportunities for Public Private Partnership Trade and Investment so as to drive Mutual prosperity between Kenya and the countries that the diplomats represent.
The Head of State Acknowledges Kenya’s Efforts in Restoring Peace Within the Region
President William Ruto also highlighted Kenya’s role in mediating peace between countries, including the ongoing conflict in the DRC.
“Kenya remains a reliable partner in regional and international peace and security efforts. Over the weekend, I was in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, co-chairing the first-ever EAC-SADC joint summit on the security situation in the DRC. Together with other leaders, we called for an immediate ceasefire,” Ruto said.
This is not the first time the Head of State has emphasized on Time management while government officials attend state functions.
President Ruto in the past locked out several government officials, including Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries, from a State House meeting for arriving late.

This incident occurred during a performance contract signing event on August 1, 202312. President Ruto emphasized the importance of punctuality and dismissed excuses such as traffic jams.
He also mentioned that officials who cannot keep time with their employer are essentially dismissing themselves.
