The Busia Governor Paul Otuoma has offered to mediate ongoing wrangles between the Siaya governor James Orengo and his deputy governor William Oduol.
Governor Oduol was speaking during a food distribution function graced by Raila Odinga in Alego Usonga.
“These people are my friends, and everyone has their roles set out, but you cannot be the deputy governor and want to be the governor. These stunts we are seeing people insulting each other in public are not a good sight to see,” he said.
Governor Otuoma further fired a warning to Oduol, urging him to focus on his duties as deputy governor to avoid controversy in the county’s leadership.

Governor Orengo and his deputy have been at loggerheads for several reasons, among them corruption and side-lining allegations and the stalemate has resulted in a petition by three activists.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) had advised the deputy governor to resign, to let Orengo appoint a new deputy.
Wandayi through a statement on Monday, May 22 stated that the standoff may interfere with Siaya county’s proper functioning.
He further stated that quality service delivery cannot be ensured “unless something drastic is done about the evidently toxic relationship” between Orengo and Oduol.
