Poverty and crimes are existing side by side in almost every corner of the world. Launching a successful agenda to address poverty and crimes should be priority of every state of the world. The disappointing situation of poverty and crimes represents the lacks in the academic development of youth.

The fundamental objective of the educational institutions is to prepare the new generation to address the incoming challenges including poverty and crimes. The severe situation of poverty is even ignored by the governing bodies and society in many parts of the world.

Such examples deliver the message of in-humanistic approach of state economic policies and valueless base of societies. Work Bank (2024) reports that around 700 million people live on less than $2.15 per day and are living in the extreme poverty.

Unemployment is rising and is one of the basic causes of poverty and crimes in any society. Educating youth in true sense means to education with such skills are urgent need of the society and have market value. Establishing small units of industries should be part of the curriculum.

Unfortunately, skill education is still not the priority of the educational institutions. Practical knowledge leads to employability. Vocational training opens more employment opportunities in manufacturing and technology. UNICEF (2024) reports that more than half of South Asian youth have not the required skills needed for future jobs.

Community perceptions about the education system in South Asia is that the existing system of education is outdated and is not in position to prepare youth for the employment. Vocational training is expensive and is not in the financial approach of a number of people in South Asian regions.

Empowering Youth through Technical and Vocational Training

Little is spent on technical and vocational education as a total budget of the governments in the South Asian region. Therefore, economic focus is urgently required to develop the youth with skill education particularly in developing countries of the world. The skills should be well defined that needs to be inculcated in the curriculum particularly at school level.

The school curriculum needs major revisions in the context of skill education particularly in South Asian region. World Bank (2023) reports that education system in African needs to rethink and redesign in the context of skill education.

The African continent is recorded with the largest population of young people in 2023. Global partnership for Education (2024) reports that in Africa, roughly 230 million jobs in Africa will demand digital skills till 2023.

Therefore, governing bodies and private sector across Africa should give priority to digital education to well address poverty and crimes.

UNODC reports that the severe situation of unemployment in Africa is one of the major causes of crimes in youth. UNICEF (2024) report that more than half of the world’s children experienced severe violence in 2023 in which 64 per cent are reported in South Asia.

Whether this not the responsibility of the governing bodies to explore the root causes of such crimes and address that severe situation. Surely, youth is involved in violence with children.

It has been mostly reported unemployed youth with anxiety and disappointment may engaged in violence and crimes with children. Parents needs to teach about the need for and importance of skill education for their children. In school education, skill education programs should be launched in which interest of the children should be given priority.

Emerging Trends of Skill Education

Digital and technical skills need to be focused on the teaching learning process. There should be integration of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and machine learning in the curriculum. IT industry is one of the major roots of economic development of any society.

Information Technology plays a pivotal role in the everyday life. It needs to be inculcated in the curriculum from school education to higher education. Our youth should be in position to initiate their own business with their learned skills.

Institutions should produce business-oriented minds for the economic stability in the society. Similarly, entrepreneur education needs to teach students for the identification of problems and finding their solutions. It helps students to develop a range of skills and competencies that are important in the personal and professional life of youth.

Educational Institutions should Produce Business Mindsets Instead of White-Collar Job Seekers

Economic stability is one of the priorities of any society. Youth play a vital role in economic stability. Majority of the youth has the priority to find a good job after completion graduation. Job seekers look to be in millions in most of the countries. Skill education means to produce such graduates that can initiate their own business.

Lack of skill education is the major gaps in the education system that leads to unemployment and job seeking for a long time. This situation has created frustration in the unemployed youth.

UN (2024) reports that global unemployment is expected to rise in 2024. International Labor Organization (2024) reports that unemployment rate is rising in Africa. Therefore, major reforms are required in the policies and practices in education sector for the economic stability particularly in developing countries.

Gaps and the policies and practices in education sector are common that are leading to unemployment and severe economic crisis in the societies. Several research studies concluded that unemployment has a bad impact on the psychological health of youth. This situation may cause in developing the criminal attitude in the unemployment youth.
