Nyeri Nominated Member of County Assembly, Anita Thumbi, has stated that the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) will not give direct tickets to any aspirant. Her sentiments come after some party leaders defected to the ruling UDA Party.
Speaking with Nixon Njau of the Kenya Times, Thumbi claimed that Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba and George Koimburi of Juja left the party because they wanted direct tickets to contest in the 2027 General Election.
Thumbi emphasized that every aspirant must go through the party nominations, adding that DCP is a democratic party that listens to the people.
She also confirmed that she is ready to compete with other aspirants for the Nyeri Women Representative seat in the nominations.
