Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has maintained that government is a shareholding entity largely belonging to the people who voted for it.
While speaking in Meru County on Saturday, October 7, the deputy president appeared to pay little attention to President William Ruto’s earlier statement that the government is not a company.
He noted that he would spur the Mt Kenya region and back William Ruto in the next general election, adding that he will ensure the population that voted Azimio in the region backed Kenya Kwanza presidency in 2027 to increase their shares in government.
“I want this region to deliver a decisive vote to William Ruto in 2027 and to make sure we increase our shareholding in this government from 47% to 60%,” Gachagua stated.
Moreover, the DP also said he will ensure the numbers go up despite many people being uncomfortable about the shareholding.

Govt Belongs to all Kenyans
Gachagua’s remarks came after President William Ruto on Friday, October 6 during his tour of the Nyanza region stated that Kenya is not a limited shareholding entity and that all Kenyans are equal.
“It is primitive and backwards for anybody to imagine that any region of Kenya cannot get development on account of how they voted. That is not right or correct and I want to assure the people of Kenya that we will move together as one nation,” President Ruto said.
The president said his government belongs to all the citizens of Kenya regardless of their political affiliations.
“Let nobody tell you that you are not in government, this government belongs to the people of Kenya. You pay taxes and you are also Kenyans, so this government is yours,” President Ruto said while addressing Siaya Residents on Friday, October 6.
Furthermore, President Ruto said no region will be left behind in development because of its political alignment.
According to the second in command, all other regions are also pursuing their own interests.

Gachagua on Uniting Mt Kenya Region
Further, DP Gachagua hinted on uniting Mt Kenya region leaders, saying he will reach out to all who are willing to proceed in a united front.
“Watu wetu wale walipotea nitawatafuta, ata huyu Peter Munya si ni mtoto wetu? Those who are willing to unite for this region I will reach them out, the elections are over,” the DP added.
