Comedian Eric Omondi believes that comedians are the best-suited people to occupy political positions, including the presidency.
In an interview on Tuesday, June 24, Omondi said comedians are brilliant and well-positioned to serve as leaders.
He explained that it takes a lot for a comedian to stand on stage and make thousands of people laugh.
“Comedy should be an advantage because Kenyans are some of the most intelligent people in the world. For an individual to stand on stage and make a crowd of 6,000 people laugh, it takes a lot of intelligence. How you manoeuvre, crowd control, and understand the people and their lifestyle. Comedians make people happy, which takes a lot,” Omondi said.
Omondi said being a comedian is, in fact, an added advantage when it comes to leadership.
“So, being a comedian and going into leadership is the best advantage you could have. We are all about reducing, and comedians will go to any length to ensure people laugh. Being a comedian is very warm; we are depressed when people don’t laugh,” he said.
Many MPs to Lose Their Seats
Omondi also predicted that the majority of the Members of Parliament (MPs) will lose their seats in the 2027 election.
He stated that only a few MPs will retain their seats, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
“I keep saying that none of the MPs will be back except for a few like Babu Owino,” Omondi said.

Omondi also challenged the youth to contest for political seats for change to be witnessed in Kenya.
“Where are we now? We must go for political seats as young people. There can never be a new Kenya with old guards. New Kenya means new leadership and a change of guard. We are now forced,” he added.

Eric Omondi Plans for Youth
The Comedian said he has no intention of running for a political position in the next election.
Omondi said he aims to see more youths in Parliament to bring the desired change.
“I didn’t have, and I currently don’t have political ambitions, but when I go home with my child and I look at her, it is my responsibility that as many youths as possible join this house,” he said.
