Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss sought to regain her political significance when she addressed a gathering of Republicans in the United States on Wednesday, February 21.
Serving as the shortest Prime Minister, Lizz addressed a partially empty hall at Triumph’s stronghold as she took the stage at Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland.
She emphasized her support for the Republican candidate for the US presidency and blaming the UK Deep State for her brief tenure.
Truss, who served for only 50 days as UK PM, lamented the challenges she faced, saying she fell victim to the UK’s establishment, its bureaucrats, and lawyers.
” I’m not saying I’m a perfect person, or I did everything exactly right. I faced the most almighty backlash for those conservative policies that I tried to put in place from the usual suspects in the media, corporate world and also from people that were meant to run the government,” said Truss.
Though once regarded as a significant conservative event, CPAC has now become more of a rally for Donald Trump supporters.
Liz Truss Over Conservative Movement
In her speech, the former premier expressed the need for a stronger conservative stance.
“We have got to challenge the institutions themselves. We’ve got to challenge the system itself, and we’ve got to be prepared to take that on as conservatives.” the PM lamented.
Her appearance followed a pattern of far-right politicians and media figures who disputed the outcome of the 2020 election, criticizing President Joe Biden, and decrying transgender rights.

Truss echoed those sentiments, arguing that western values are under threat and expressing disbelief at the debate over gender identity.
“Our history is being challenged, even our biology is being challenged. Could you imagine 10 years ago that we’d be talking about a woman is or what a man and having a serious argument about it. It’s incredible,'”
Meanwhile we’ve seen President Biden asleep at the wheel in the White house,” she noted.
UK Shortest Serving Prime Minister
Truss’s tenure as prime minister was marked by economic turmoil following her proposal for unfunded tax cuts.
She resigned in October 2022, making her the shortest-serving prime minister in the country’s history.
Despite her short-lived premiership, Truss criticized interventions from the International Monetary Fund and President Biden on her economic policies.
” Now can you imagine being attacked on your economic policy by the inventor of ‘Bidenomics’? Talk about offensive” she sarcastically remarked.

Additionally, she advocated for Republicans to regain control of the White House, senate, and House of the representatives.
However, she refrained from endorsing Trump noting his strong alignment between “drain the swamp agenda.”
Her appearance came after she launched the popular conservatism movement in London, aiming to improve her public image.
Attendees at CPAC expressed support for Truss, sympathizing with her short stint in office and attributing her challenges to political interference.
