House Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa has slammed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’I over his allegations that police officers raided his Karen home on Wednesday, February 8 night.
Ichung’wa said the move by Matiangi was intended to disrupt a planned meeting of Kisii leaders with President William Ruto.
“This is following the dwindling support of their subversive activities in political rallies around the country especially by the political class,” Ichung’wa argued.
Moreover, the legislator made his remarks on Thursday, February 9 amid rising calls for the former CS to produce evidence over the alleged raid even as security agencies denied raiding his home.
“We want to let Kenyans know that this was a poorly scripted drama last night whose architects, scripters and directors only wanted to invoke public emotions and incite Kenyans,” stated Ichung’wa.

In addition, the majority leader has called opposition chief Raila Odinga who is among the politicians who arrived at Matangi’s home to produce evidence in form of photographs of the alleged raid.
According to Ichung’wa, Matiang’i should not live in fear if his consciousness is clear that he did not misuse government agencies when he was the CS for Interior.
The legislator further assured Matiang’i that the Kenya Kwanza government will not repeat last regime’s style, adding that they will do due diligence in case he has a case to answer.
Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie on his part termed the incident as the height of political desperation meant to destabilize the country and cause chaos among Kenyans.
“The truth of the matter is that there has been an attempt to bring disorder, chaos and civil action from the day the results were announced at the Bomas of Kenya.” He stated.
“They tried to bring people to the streets. The Supreme Court ruled and soon after that they even tried to mobilize people to go to the street and that also failed,” Kiarie added.
