Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o has written to blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, demanding immediate retraction of the viral article linking him to dubious gold business along with MP Zaheer Jhanda and Senator Allan Chesang’.
Through Cliff Oduk Advocates, Jalang’o said the post not only lacks factual basis but also serves to tarnish his image and professional standings in the community.
“We demand that you make an immediate public retraction of the defamatory statements made in the aforementioned post,” Cliff Oduk Advocates told Nyakundi.
Additionally, Jalang’o directed Nyakundi to post an apology on X(Twitter) with the same equal prominence to the defamatory tweet.
Also, the Advocate ordered Nyakundi to stop any further publication or dissemination of the defamatory statements regarding Jalango’s character or reputation.
“In addition to the retraction and apology, we demand that a correction and clarification be published to inform the readership that the statements made were false and without merit,” added Cliff Oduk Advocates.
Moreover, Jalang’o demanded compensation for the damage to his reputation including financial losses incurred because of the defamation.
Jalang’o Legal Action
In the letter, Jalang’o stated that he will file a defamation case if Nyakundi fails to meet his demands.
“If you don’t meet the demands, we will pursue civil proceedings and/or legal action against both the newspaper and the individual responsible for this defamatory statement,” said Cliff Oduk Advocates.
Also, Jalango’o said he will use all available legal remedies including seeking damages for defamation.

Nyakundi Tweet & Article
On September 11, Nyakundi wrote an article and a tweet allegedly, defaming Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda, Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang and Jalang’o linking them to a crime.
However, Jalang’o stated that the words in the tweet by Nyakundi are false and malicious.
“The foregoing goes to demonstrate that you intended to form a negative and undesirable opinion about our client and his detriment,” said Cliff Oduk Advocates.
Further, the Advocates said the tweet has left permanent damage to Jalango’s reputation and will remain accessible to millions of people.

Nyakundi’s Reaction
Taking to his Twitter page, Nyakundi confirmed the reception of the demand letter.
“Jalang’o has sent me a demand letter demanding I delete a tweet and article linking him to gold fraud,” wrote Nyakundi.
However, Nyakundi noted that civil cases have no arrests unless there is contempt.
“I have not seen this demand letter, but the dramatic senator Chesang’ has already sent it to the media before sending it to me. For Jalas, his lawyers sent the demand letter to my WhatsApp,” stated Nyakundi.
Also, Nyakundi said MP Zaheer Jihanda sent a 20-page demand letter to his WhatsApp, demanding he deletes the tweet and article and apologize, or face a legal battle.
Additionally, Nyakundi said if Jalango’o, Zaheer and Chesang go to court it will be a good move for Kenyans.
He argues that it is essential for Kenyans to probe into their wealth sources.
“Many of us are eager to learn how they’ve amassed their money, even making money-counting videos. My Lawyer, Donald B Kipkorir will handle these matters,” said Nyakundi.
