Former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Matiang’i has conveyed a message to Kenyans and Gen Z concerning the recent happenings in the country.

Speaking on June 19, Matiang’i stated that the efforts of Gen Z will be in vain if they do not register as voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

Matiang’i explained that Gen Z’s main goal should be to obtain a voter’s card and participate in the upcoming election.

He emphasised that Kenyans should engage in the elections to achieve the change they are advocating for.

“We can do as much as we want, but if we are not registering and preparing to vote, we have not succeeded,” he said.

“So the drive is to register, we vote, we prepare ourselves to participate effectively and in an equal manner in the forthcoming electoral process.”

Matiang’i described Kenya as one big family and said the recent occurrences have pained and saddened him.

“However you think, however you play your politics, our country must always be one country, one family, and all of us must find a way of engaging with one another,” he said.

Matiang’i mentioned that the problems do not discriminate, and some decisions affect the livelihoods of Kenyans, as well as the stability and security of our country.

He indicated that everyone is suffering, regardless of their political affiliations, and that Kenyans should utilise all available mechanisms to ensure their survival.

Asking for Kenyans Trust

Matiang’i urged Kenyans to trust him as they concentrate on transforming their lives.

“The suffering and the challenges are across the board. That is the reason why we should do everything we can to ensure that we focus on the survival of our country,” he said.

“We should focus on ensuring that we change the lives of our people. As for me, I want to assure you 100% you can trust me. I am going to spend all my time on this.”

Finding Solutions to the Challenges Facing Kenyans

Matiang’i also mentioned that he is attempting to find solutions to the challenges facing Kenyans.

Besides, he asked Kenyans to spend time seeking solutions instead of wasting time on “negative energy.”

“I want us to see how we can find solutions to the challenges that we face. That’s why you have not heard me making negative statements and so on,” he said.

“I always tell you my brothers and sisters, negative energy has no returns. Let us focus on finding solutions to our problems.”

Additionally, he stressed that the problems of Kenyans are not financial but rather managerial and leadership-related.

Matiang’i is the Best Alternative for President

Matiang’i asserts he is well-positioned to lead the country alongside other opposition leaders.

He urged Kenyans to unite, focusing on solutions to the problems rather than on the individuals responsible for the challenges.

“Half of our problems have nothing to do with money. They have to do with management and leadership. We are better people; we have sufficient capacity in the country to manage the country better,” he added.
