Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) John Kaguchia has been arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after spending the night at Royal Media Services (RMS) offices.
The arrest followed hours of uncertainty after Kaguchia and his lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, claimed that DCI officers had surrounded the media house, intending to arrest the legislator.
Kaguchia had earlier alleged that hooded, masked and heavily armed men surrounded Royal Media Services (RMS) shortly after he appeared on the Kiririmbi Show, claiming they intended to arrest him.
In a statement shared on social media on August 2, Kaguchia claimed the group arrived in a fleet of Subaru vehicles, erected roadblocks around the media house and remained outside the premises for hours.
He maintained that any arrest should be carried out legally by uniformed police officers.
 “After my Kiririmbi Show this evening, a contingent of Hooded and masked heavily armed men with a fleet of Subarus have marooned Royal Media Studios and erected roadblocks with intentions of arresting me! I will NOT BE INTIMIDATED whatsoever. Arrests, if at all, must be done legally and constitutionally through uniformed policemen,” he stated.
Kaguchia Issues 3:56 a.m. Update on Alleged Operation Outside RMS
In a later update posted at 3:56 a.m., the MP alleged that more than 40 hooded and masked armed men, using over 13 Subaru vehicles and double-cab pickups, were still surrounding the Royal Media Studios.
He further claimed that no uniformed police officers were present at the scene.
 MP Kaguchia said he would not be intimidated and insisted that any lawful arrest must follow constitutional procedures. His claims had not been independently verified at the time of his statements.

Mukurweini MP Issues Warning to Kasongo Supporters
Speaking in his native language at a public gathering in Kieni during the day, the the MP warned residents against supporting “Kasongo,” a political nickname commonly used by some opponents to refer to President William Ruto.
He said that if Kasongo or his supporters received even one vote in Kieni, those who backed him would be pursued and held accountable, citing what he described as Ruto’s treatment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The speaker also urged the community to socially isolate Kasongo’s supporters, saying they should not accept goats brought for dowry ceremonies from them and instead told them to take the animals to Sugoi, President Ruto’s home area.

“If Kasongo or his supporters get even one vote in Kieni, I’m telling you, we will come after you and even find you under your bed. We cannot allow that after what he did to Rigathi and everything else he has done. If you support Kasongo, then, speaking frankly, if you bring goats for a dowry ceremony, we will not accept them. You can take those goats to Sugoi instead.” Kaguchia addressed.
Ndegwa Njiru Raises Concern Over MP’s Claims
Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru said he had received information from Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia alleging that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had waylaid him at the Citizen TV studios.
In a statement on August 2, Njiru said the reasons for the officers’ presence and their intentions remained unclear at the time.
He described it as concerning that a sitting Member of Parliament had reportedly been ambushed at night.
Njiru said he was closely monitoring the situation and called for transparency and adherence to the rule of law.
