Emily Awita, Chairperson of the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), has announced the dates for the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) to conduct its fresh elections countrywide.
A statement by the party addressing all members revealed that the elections will take place on November 27, 2024.
“The grassroots elections will be conducted on November 27, 2024, in all polling Units/Centres across the Forty-Seven (47) Counties,” the ODM statement read in part.
Furthermore, the party revealed that the elections will bring on board thirty (30) officials—10 each from the three (3) Committees at each Polling Unit/Centre, namely the Mainstream, Women League, and Youth League.
Notably, the said elections were anticipated to take place in April 2024, but they never materialized due to the flooding that was being experienced in most parts of the country at the time; thus, the exercise was postponed indefinitely.
“As all Party members are aware, the NECC, under the resolution of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), had scheduled to conduct the grassroots elections in the month of April 2024,” the ODM statement noted.

The National Elections Coordinating Committee

Furthermore, the party emphasized that the structure and membership of the sub-branch, Branch, and County Coordinating Committee remain the same; thus, the NECC will announce the roll-out of elections in these categories after the completion of the Polling Unit/Centre elections.
