Peter Kenneth Biography
Peter Kenneth is a prominent Kenyan politician, businessman, and former banker. He was born on November 27, 1965, in Bahati, Nairobi.
He currently serves as the chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) National Standards Council, following his appointment by President William Ruto on December 19, 2024.

Education
He attended Bahati Uhuru Primary School, where he earned his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE). Kenneth continued his education at Starehe Boys’ Centre and School for both O and A levels.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Master’s degree in Law from the same university.
Banking Career
Before entering politics, the 59-year-old was a professional banker, having worked with various financial institutions, including Prudential Finance and Bank (1985–1986) and Nationwide Finance Company (1986–1997).
He also served as Managing Director at the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation from 1997 to 2002.
Political Career
Kenneth joined politics in 2002 and was elected as the Member of Parliament for Gatanga Constituency in December of that year on a National Rainbow Coalition ticket, serving until 2013.
His constituency was recognized for effectively managing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) during his tenure.

As the MP for Gatanga, Kenneth served in various governmental roles, including assistant minister in the Ministry of Cooperative Development and Marketing, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of State for Planning, National Development, and Vision 2030.
In 2013, Peter Kenneth ran for the presidency of Kenya under the Kenya National Congress (KNC) party ticket with the slogan ‘Tunawesmake’ but finished in fourth place, losing to Uhuru Kenyatta, who won on the TNA ticket.
Kenneth then contested the Nairobi gubernatorial position in the 2017 general elections but lost to then Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.
In the 2022 general elections, Kenneth supported Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga for the presidency, but Odinga lost to then Deputy President William Ruto.

Kenneth is known for his interests in farming, insurance, real estate, and manufacturing.
He has a keen passion for sports, particularly football, having served as chairman of the Kenya Football Federation (KFF) from 1996 to 2000. He was also a FIFA Committee Member for FUTSAL from 1998 to 2000.
