President William Ruto has welcomed criticism from the opposition boss Raila Odinga over his “road to nowhere” remarks.
The Azimio la Umoja Coalition leader claimed the government has failed to honor the promises it made during the campaign period.
Moreover, Raila in his remarks stated that President Ruto’s first 100 days in office has been full of unattained promises and his performance so far rates at 4/10.
In a quick rejoinder, the head of state said that he is happy that the opposition is on its toes, adding that they are rightfully discharging their duty of checking and balancing the government.
Furthermore, while speaking at an interdenominational Christmas service in Uasin Gishu on Sunday, December 25, President Ruto confirmed that his government is committed to fulfilling its promises and building a better nation.
“I see they are trying to correct us and that is okay, they have given us marks, which is fine and that is the way to go. My joy is that we have an opposition which is working for Kenyans, and I assure them that we are ready to work so that the nation moves forward.” President Ruto noted.
Nonetheless, the president also explained why his deliverables have seemingly slowed down since taking office.

The head of state noted that he opted to first tackle the ailing economy to build the nation from an independent economic foundation.
“My joy is that we have started that journey. The foundation is as important as what we want to achieve. And that is why I have made the decision that before I do anything else I should build the economic foundation,” said President Ruto.
Likewise, the head of state noted that the economy had a lot of challenges. Thence, the state has been using 65% of the tax to repay debts. He added that the debt foundation must be over soon.
nevertheless, President Ruto, called on the opposition to tone down their attacks against the government and wait for the economy to stabilize.
“So those who are trying to rush me I want to tell them mosmos, let’s go slow. Let us first plan the economy of Kenya to be on the right footing.” Stated the president.
