President Wiliam Ruto has revealed the reason why he met former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
While speaking in Wajir on Tuesday, December 10, President Ruto stated that the meeting was aimed at fostering unity and national cohesion.
“Let me confirm that going forward it is indeed our place as a country to work together to find a common ground on things that are of national interest to the Republic of Kenya.
It is the reason why I am working with the Former Prime Minister. This is the reason why I have reached out to the Former President.

It is the reason why I would reach out to all other leaders so that we can fashion a country that all of us believe in,” Ruto said.
He further said that he aims to have a country where every citizen can have a stake in and participate in realizing their full potential.
“We must continuously build bridges instead of erecting barriers. We must always find ways to create more synergies as we move forward,” the first in command reiterated.

Furthermore, Ruto stated that he appreciates the leadership of various groups, teams, and sectors as he works together with citizens on the common project called Kenya.
He emphasized that it is not an individual program or a personal project, but a collective effort by everyone.

President Ruto’s remarks came a day after his meeting with former President Uhuru Kenyatta at Kenyatta’s Ichaweri home in Gatundu South constituency.

During their discussion, both leaders highlighted the importance of fostering unity, patriotism, and cooperation among all Kenyans and stakeholders.
This includes the three branches of government, religious leaders, civil society, and other partners, all aimed at promoting national stability and collective progress.
Moreover, President Ruto and President Kenyatta stressed the need for a swift resolution of the court cases concerning the constitution of the IEBC selection panel to expedite the appointment of commissioners.

They also urged Kenyans, friends of Kenya, and international partners to support Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the position of Chair of the African Union Commission.
Additionally, the leaders recognized the necessity of achieving broader political consensus in the country’s governance to accelerate inclusive growth and advance the national development agenda.
