Nikita is a Kenyan musician, singer-songwriter, and model born on February 26, 2002, in Nairobi, Kenya.
She is the fourth child among five siblings (3 boys and 2 girls) of Joseph Kering and Anne Kering.
Educational Background
Nikita attended Riara Springs Academy in Nairobi, Kenya for a year, then Kilimani Junior Academy, later she transferred to Nairobi Academy located in Nairobi, Kenya which offered the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) system.
Then she got a scholarship to study at Brookhouse International School, which is also under the IGCSE system, where she did a diploma course in Business and Technology in music.
She graduated from Brookhouse in June 2020.

Career Journey
Nikita Chepchumba Kering demonstrated a passion for music from a young age; she used to entertain guests at kindergarten events at age three.
She gained recognition after opening for gospel musician Emmy Kosgei in 2011, during the launch of her album. Emmy became her mentor.
In 2018, she started her music career professionally at the age of sixteen when she wrote her first song, “Happy with You”, which she later released as her first single.
She was selected for Mr. Eazi’s #Empawa100 mentorship program in 2019, which provided funding for her first music video for the single “Tragedy“.
Afterwards, she released several singles, including Awesome, Never Let Go, Where You Been, and Better Than Ever.
She released her debut EP, A Side of Me, to critical acclaim, with many likening her style to that of an English singer, Adele.
However, after being frequently compared to the English singer, she decided to craft a sound that was uniquely hers dubbing it as ‘The Nikit Kering’ Sound ‘compiling her previous singles with the current ones.
“Ex” was the first released single of the album, which has been the most played song in Kenya on Spotify.
She recently released another single, “Last Name,” in July 2020.
In the 2023, Coke Studio Africa Nikit Kering’ and Khaligraph Jones were selected to represent Kenya.
Coke Studio Africa released a remix video of Nikita Kering’s song “Ex,” featuring Nikita and Khaligraph Jones, who rapped and sang, respectively.
She has collaborated with artists like Ndovu Kuu, Scar Mkadinali, Khaligraph Jones, Buruklyn Boyz, Lilmaina, Kemena, Msaki, and Fave, among others.
As a model, she began as Deena Jones in the Brookhouse School production of the musical Dream Girls and also performed at the annual Women in Music concert series by the Goethe-Institut.

Awards
Nikita won the Best New Artist Award at the Pulse Music Video Awards in 2018.
In 2019, she won two awards at the Africa Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) for Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa and The Revelation of the African Continent.
Nikita became the youngest AFRIMMA award winner at the age of seventeen.
She was also the Best R&B and Soul Artist and Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa in 2021.
At twenty, she became an ambassador for the Spotify EQUAL Africa program.
Nikita has firmly established herself in the music world through a unique combination of deep passion, relentless drive, and raw talent.
