Teleposta Towers is one of Nairobi’s most recognizable skyscrapers, located at the junction of Kenyatta Avenue and Koinange Street in the Central Business District.
When the tower was completed in 1999 after three years of construction, the 27-storey office tower became Kenya’s tallest building after surpassing the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).
The building was completed during a period when Nairobi was rapidly expanding, with developers increasingly turning to high-rise office buildings to accommodate government institutions and businesses in the CBD.
Currently, the tower is the 89th tallest in Africa and 8th in Kenya.
Construction of the 120-Metre Teleposta Towers
Construction of Teleposta Towers began in 1996 and was completed in 1999. The building was designed as an office development and has a height of 120 meters across 27 floors. The Skyscraper is listed as an office building located along Kenyatta Avenue.

The building was constructed by Laxmanbhai Construction Company, and Dr Paul Ndarua was the architect behind the tower. Its central location gave it immediate prominence, with the tower positioned opposite Uhuru Park and close to some of Nairobi’s most important commercial and government institutions.
At 120 meters, Teleposta Towers was the third-tallest building in the country when it was completed in 1999.
The building has three interconnected towers of different heights. Its tallest tower has a steel mass at the top.
Some offices in the Teleposta Towers are the ICT Authority (ICTA) on the 12th Floor, the State Department for Trade, and Huduma Center GPO on the ground floor, the first Huduma Center in Kenya that was opened in 2013.
Ownership of The Teleposta Tower
The tower became associated with Telkom Kenya and government institutions, including the former Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Trade.
Its name is derived from telecommunications and postal services. This is because of its link to Telcom and Postal services in Kenya.

Teleposta Tower is a major commercial building along Kenyatta Avenue, with office accommodation and facilities designed for organizations operating within Nairobi’s CBD.
It has high-speed lifts, underground parking extending to all three basement levels, CCTV surveillance, firefighting equipment and two diesel generator backups, with one supporting building services and another serving the fire pumps.
Teleposta Towers is owned via the Teleposta Pension Scheme.
In March 2026, the Teleposta Pension Scheme announced its plans to liquidate up to 70% of its asset portfolio to improve the scheme’s liquidity and ability to meet member obligations.
According to Property 24, rental rates at Teleposta Towers are capped at KSh300 per square foot per month, with a service charge of KSh30 per square foot per month.
The available space varies, with property listings advertising units on different parts of the building.
