The identities of a couple among six people who died in a tragic ambulance crash along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway have been revealed. Among those who perished were Eng. Joseph Omido, the CEO of Stewar Limited, and his wife, Mrs Margaret (Magie) Kavuu Omido, an employee of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
The couple was aboard an ambulance rushing a critically ill patient to the hospital when the vehicle lost control and crashed.
Details of the late Joseph Omido
The late Joseph Omido was a seasoned engineer and business leader with over 20 years of experience in Kenya’s engineering and infrastructure sector.
Before joining Stewar Limited, he worked at Ultimate Engineering Limited as the Technical Director from January 2005 to March 2010, where he oversaw major infrastructural projects.
At the time of his passing, he served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stewar Limited, a position he had held since January 2010.
Joseph attended Nairobi South Primary School and, went on to Nairobi Technical School and later Joined Highway Secondary School for his A levels.
He enrolled in Nairobi polytechnic and later to Egerton University where he pursued his engineering studies.
Omido was a member of Instituition of Engineers of Kenya with a Class A practising certificate.
Stewar Ltd was established in 2008 in Kenya as an Electrical engineering technology and service-oriented company. It specialises in Electrical Installations and maintenance.
He was the son of the late Humphrey Lugadiru Omido and the late Mary Ayuma Omido of Naku, Kakie.

Details of the late Margaret Kavuu
The late Omido’s wife, Margaret Kavuu, attended Kimutwa Primary School, where she excelled academically, later joining Kyanguili Secondary School and subsequently St. Teresa Girls High School Nairobi.
Margaret pursued higher education at the renowned Kianda Secretarial College, where she obtained accreditation in Office Administration.
She later worked at the University of Nairobi, and it was during this time that she met the love of her life, Joseph Omido.
At the time of her demise, Margaret was still working as a CBK employee.
She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Mutua of Kakamega County.
The couple were married in 1995 and together they had three children: Megan Khamwa, Vuyanzi Mudete Lugadiru, and Claudia Mwembe.
Nairobi-Nakuru Highway Ambulance Accident
In a tragic turn of events, Margaret was involved in two accidents on her way to Nairobi from Kitale.
In the first accident, Margaret sustained injuries to her leg and forehead. She was stabilized, and her husband was informed.
Joseph Omido rushed to see his wife, and a decision was made to transfer her to Nairobi for specialized treatment.
However, he insisted on traveling with Margaret in the ambulance heading to Nairobi.
The ambulance was involved in a crash on Saturday night, September 27, killing everybody on board.
According to reports, Margaret, her husband, Joseph Omido, a nurse, and the ambulance driver all died on the spot in the accident that occurred near Kimende along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.

Witnesses say the ambulance, affiliated with St Mary’s Elementaita, lost control and crashed.
The aftermath of the accident was a mangled wreckage.
A funeral service for the two will be held at CITAM Valley Road Church on Tuesday, October 7. They will be laid to rest at their e Ndalu home, Kitale.
