In his victory speech, Kayange highlighted his priorities for player welfare and governance during his three-year term as director. He stated that these were the two critical areas that needed to be looked at to ensure that the players for the national teams were well taken care of and given a platform to make the country proud in various assignments.

The race for secretary saw former Kabras RFC chairman Ray Olendo beat director Oscar Mango by a single vote (18-17). Moses Ndale retained his position as vice chairman, defeating Dennis Ombui 19-16. Meanwhile, Alexander Sasha Mutai was elected as chairman, and Joshua Aroni was elected treasurer.

In addition to the director and officer positions, four directors were also elected, including Harriette Okach (19 votes), Moses Mukabane (18 votes), Ochieng Ahaya (17 votes), and John Kilonzo (16 votes), who will serve a four-year term.

The Kenya Rugby Union elections have been a significant event for rugby enthusiasts. The election of Kayange as a director brings a fresh perspective to the team’s management, given his experience as a former player and his current role in the National Olympic Committee of Kenya.

The elected officials, including the directors, secretary, vice-chairman, chairman, and treasurer, are tasked with ensuring the continued growth and success of rugby in the country, focusing on player welfare and governance.
