The FIFA World Cup 2026 final will make history by introducing the tournament’s first-ever halftime show to football’s biggest match.
Unlike previous World Cup finals, where entertainment was mainly focused on opening and closing ceremonies, the 2026 edition will introduce a halftime performance during the match itself.
The final will be played on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium area), closing event of the expanded 48-team tournament hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
After the first half of the final, the match will break for 30 minutes, with an 11-minute halftime performance and 19 minutes for stage preparation.
FIFA Announces Bigger Entertainment Experience for World Cup Final
FIFA president Gianni Infantino stated that the performance aims to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, seeking to raise USD 100 million to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide.

“As the world comes together for the biggest match in football on 19 July 2026 in New York New Jersey, this historic show will also shine a light on a greater purpose by supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and our shared mission to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide. It will be a celebration of football, unity and shared humanity that will resonate far beyond the final whistle,” said Infantino
Currently, more than USD 30 million has already been raised, with FIFA also committing USD 1 from every ticket sold at the tournament to support social projects globally.
Opening ceremony of the final will include musical and cultural performances before the players walk out for the decisive match. The ceremony will form part of FIFA’s efforts to make the final not only a sporting contest but also a major global entertainment event.
The halftime show will take place during the break between the first and second halves, giving fans a new entertainment experience while broadcasters provide analysis of the opening 45 minutes.
