Boniface Oluoch Otieno is a former Harambee Stars goalkeeper who won six Kenyan Premier League titles with Tusker FC and Gor Mahia before transitioning into coaching.
Early Life and Education
Boniface Oluoch Otieno was born in Nairobi, Kenya, on 22 December 1986. He developed an interest in football at a young age and initially played as a midfielder rather than a goalkeeper.
He developed early at Joseph Apudo High School and Railways FC, where he gained experience as an attacking player before his career took a different direction.
Oluoch’s early years as an outfield player helped shape his approach to goalkeeping.
In a 2020 interview with The Standard, he recalled being asked to play in goal when his local team lacked enough players.

What began as an improvised decision eventually became his main position.
His late brother, George Odhiambo, a former Gor Mahia goalkeeper, played an important role in his development.
Odhiambo trained him and taught him goalkeeping skills, helping him adapt to the demands of the position.
Oluoch later acknowledged that his experience as a midfielder improved his confidence on the ball and his ability to play with his feet, qualities that became part of his goalkeeping style.

Boniface Oluoch began his senior football career with Black Mamba in Nairobi during the 2004–2005 season before moving to Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) for the 2005–2006 campaign.
He then joined Rwanda’s APR FC, where he played during the 2006–2008 period, before returning to Kenya to join Tusker FC in 2008.
His time at APR coincided with a successful period for the Rwandan club.
APR won the national league title in the 2006–2007 season and the domestic cup in both 2006–2007 and 2007–2008.
Oluoch’s career gained momentum after joining Tusker FC, where he established himself as one of the club’s goalkeepers.
He helped Tusker win back-to-back Kenyan Premier League titles in 2011 and 2012.
His performances also earned him recognition as the league’s goalkeeper of the year in both seasons.
After spending about five years at Tusker, Oluoch joined Gor Mahia in December 2014 on a two-year contract after his deal with the Ruaraka-based club expired.
