Brother to Princess Angel, the 11-year-old who recited a poem before President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua last Sunday at an Akorino National Prayer Conference has secured a job from Ruto.
Princess Angel’s performance not only secured a job for her older brother, but also a full scholarship for her education.
Princess Angel’s mother has narrated how her son secured a job after an invitation for her daughter and her to a breakfast meeting at Gachagua’s official residence in Karen.
“We met with the deputy president, he was pleased with my daughter and made the decision to sponsor her,” she said.
President Ruto stepped in to offer her elder brother, Martin Diongo, a job opportunity and cleared their outstanding rent arrears.
“The president called me and offered my son a job, cleared the rent arrears that we had,” she added.
Chances to Present to Ruto
In a step of faith, Angel and her mother attended the conference, even though she missed the chance to perform during the scheduled entertainment session.
Their fortunes changed when Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika defied protocol and invited Angel to recite her poem despite initial resistance from the security detail.
“Governor defiled protocol for my daughter to recite the poem even after security resisted,” she said.

The impromptu performance was a breakthrough for Angel, leading to an invitation for her and her mother to a breakfast meeting at Gachagua’s official residence in Karen.

Angel had been out of school since January due to a lack of fees, and their family had been struggling with rent arrears, leading to their house being locked by their landlord.
