Joshua Aduma Owuor is a Kenyan politician and lawyer serving as the Member of Parliament for Nyakach Constituency since 2013.
He is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Joshua Aduma’s parents were brutally murdered in a suspected targeted attack involving their newly hired farmhand.
Educational background of Joshua Aduma
Joshua Aduma Owuor began his education at Nyabondo Primary School, where he earned his Certificate of Primary Education in 1979.
He proceeded to Onjiko High School for his ‘O’ levels, completing them in 1983.
Joshua Aduma then attended Ambira High School for his A-levels and graduated in 1986.
Later, he pursued higher education at the University of Nairobi, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) degree in 1990.
This was followed by professional legal training at the Kenya School of Law, where he obtained his Diploma in Law in 1994.
Career life
In his career, Owuor worked as a student intern at the Subordinate Law Courts in Kisumu from 1991 to 1992.
Between 1992 and 1993, he served as a Legal Officer and later Company Secretary at Lake Tanner Company Limited.
He practised law privately as an advocate from 1994 to 2001.
Owuor then joined the Ministry of Local Government, serving as Town Clerk in Kisumu (2003-2004), Bondo (2004-2006), and Garissa (2006-2007).
In 2008, Aduma became Director of Legal Affairs at Nairobi City Hall.
Joshua Aduma was first elected to Parliament in March 2013 and has since been re-elected, currently serving his third term representing Nyakach.
His committee memberships have included the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works & Housing (2013-2017), Catering and Health Club Committee (2013-2017), and the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security (2017-present).
