Kenyan companies can now update their registered addresses online through the Business Registration Service (BRS) available on the eCitizen platform.
The digital process has simplified compliance with the Companies Act, 2015, allowing businesses to modify their details conveniently without physically visiting government offices.
Accessing the Online Platform
Changing of company addresses is among the services available on the official government portal www.ecitizen.go.ke.
Company directors or authorized representatives must log in using their existing eCitizen credentials.
New users are required to create an account using their National ID, email address, and mobile number.
Once logged in, users should navigate to the Business Registration Service (BRS) on the dashboard.
The platform displays all registered businesses linked to the account, enabling users to select the specific company whose address needs updating.
Filing the Business Adress Change Application
After selecting the company, the applicant should go to the “Change of Company Particulars” section and choose “Change of Registered Office Address.”
The system then prompts the user to provide details of the new address, including the postal address, physical location, and email contact.
To validate the change, several supporting documents are required.
These include a board resolution or written authorization approving the new address, proof of the new premises, such as a lease agreement or ownership document, and copies of the identification of the directors or authorized officers.

Applicants are advised to ensure all details entered match official records to avoid delays.
Payments and Processing Time
Once the form is complete, the applicant proceeds to make payment through the eCitizen payment options, which include M-Pesa, debit card, or bank transfer.
The processing fee for a change of address is KSh 850.
After payment, the application is submitted electronically to the Registrar of Companies for verification and approval.
The review process typically takes two to five working days, depending on the application volume.
Once approved, the applicant receives a Certificate of Change of Address, available for download and printing from the eCitizen account.
Compliance and Legal Requirements
Under the Companies Act, 2015, all registered companies are required to notify the Registrar within 14 days of changing their office address.

Failure to do so may result in non-compliance penalties or administrative delays in future filings.
