The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released a seven-day forecast detailing different areas in the country that are expected to receive rainfall between June 18, and June 24. In the outlook, Kenya Met focused on rainfall, temperature, cold and cloud conditions and strong winds.
According to the weatherman, the information seeks to help Kenyans to better prepare for the expected rainfall, stay safe and plan accordingly.
According to the forecast, Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and the Coast will receive rainfall while the rest of the regions in the Country are expected to remain dry.
Areas in the Central Highlands and the Lake Victoria Basin include Kiambu, Murang’a Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Laikipia, Kisii, Nyamira, Siaya, Migori, Kisumu and Homabay,
The Western Region encompasses Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia while the Rift Vally entails Narok, Kericho, Namdi Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot Counties.

Counties in the Coast region to receive rainfall are Mombasa, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Lam, Tana-River and Kilifi.

Kenya Met Issues 7-Day Forecast
Kenya Met further advised that intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.
The Southeastern Lowlands, include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties,
Furthermore, strong southerly to south-easterly winds at speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and Northwestern Kenya.
The weatherman also noted that high average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in some parts of the Coast, North-eastern and North-western.
The Northeastern region, comprises of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties,
Also to note, Kenya Average night-time (minimum) temperatures will be low (less than 10°C) over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Central Rift Valley.
Earlier Predictions
In last week’s forecast KMD indicated that some areas will experience dry, cold, and wet conditions.
Rainfall was anticipated in a few regions in the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin.
In a statement on June 10, the department announced that the rest of the country was expected to remain generally dry.
However, some parts of the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the southeastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley were to experience intermittent cold and cloudy conditions.
