The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has predicted rainfall in several parts of the country over the next five days, even as most regions are expected to remain generally dry.
In its weather outlook for the period between June 26 and June 30, 2026, Kenya Met said occasional rainfall is likely over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley.
The department also predicted intermittent cool and cloudy conditions in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley, and North-eastern Kenya.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be generally dry. However, occasional rainfall is likely over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley,” Kenya Met said.
Kenya Met Lists Regions Expected to Receive Rain
According to the forecast, counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, are likely to experience cloudy mornings followed by sunny intervals and afternoon showers over a few places throughout the forecast period.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley are also expected to receive rainfall.
The region, which includes Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties, is expected to experience showers and thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoons.
In North-western Kenya, comprising Turkana and Samburu counties, there is a chance of rain and showers over a few places on Friday before sunny conditions prevail for the rest of the period.
The Coast region, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties as well as the Tana Delta, is expected to receive occasional showers in a few areas on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Most Areas to Remain Dry
Kenya Met said most parts of North-eastern Kenya, covering Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, will remain generally dry, with sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.
Similarly, the South-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to experience mainly sunny conditions during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.
Temperature Outlook
North-western Kenya is expected to record some of the highest temperatures in the country, with daytime temperatures ranging from 35°C to 36°C and minimum temperatures from 9°C to 11°C.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley will experience minimum temperatures of between 7°C and 10°C and maximum temperatures of between 25°C and 27°C.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley are expected to record the lowest temperatures, with minimum temperatures ranging from 5°C to 7°C and daytime temperatures of between 29°C and 31°C.

In North-eastern Kenya, temperatures will remain high, with maximum temperatures of between 34°C and 36°C, while minimum temperatures will range between 14°C and 15°C.
The South-eastern lowlands are expected to record minimum temperatures of between 10°C and 15°C and maximum temperatures of between 28°C and 30°C.
Meanwhile, the Coast region will remain warm, with temperatures ranging between 21°C and 23°C at night and a steady daytime maximum of 30°C throughout the forecast period.
