Kenyans in several parts of the country should prepare for rainfall over the next five days, according to the latest forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Department. At the same time, the weather department has predicted that cool, cloudy conditions would persist across Nairobi and parts of the Central and Eastern regions.
In its five-day weather outlook covering the period between Sunday, July 26, and Thursday, July 30, the Kenya Met said rainfall will be experienced in several counties, with intermittent cold and cloudy weather expected in Garissa, Wajir, Marsabit, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kitui, Machakos, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Kajiado and Nairobi.
The forecast shows that rainfall will be concentrated mainly in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and parts of northwestern Kenya, while most coastal and northeastern counties will experience sunny intervals, with only isolated light showers.
Kenya Met Forecasts Rain in Western Kenya and Rift Valley
Counties in western Kenya and the Rift Valley are expected to receive the most rainfall during the five-day period.
West Pokot, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu are forecast to receive light to moderate afternoon showers, particularly on Monday and Tuesday.
Nandi, Nakuru, Kericho, Nyamira and Kisii are also expected to experience moderate afternoon showers on some days, while Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Siaya and Homa Bay will receive light morning rains followed by afternoon showers.
Busia is forecast to receive moderate morning rainfall on Thursday, while Kisii, Nyamira and Kericho could experience moderate showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nairobi, Kiambu to Remain Cold
Residents of Nairobi and Kiambu should expect chilly mornings throughout the forecast period.
The two counties will experience cloudy-to-sunny intervals during the mornings before giving way to sunny afternoons on most days.
Nairobi could receive light afternoon showers on Monday, with daytime temperatures ranging between 26°C and 27°C, while night temperatures could drop to 10°C to 13°C.
Kiambu is expected to experience similar weather patterns, with daytime temperatures between 24°C and 25°C and minimum temperatures of 10°C to 13°C.
Central and Eastern Counties
Intermittent cloudy mornings are expected across Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui and Machakos.
Light rain is forecast in Tharaka-Nithi, Embu and Kirinyaga on Monday morning, while Nyandarua is expected to receive light afternoon showers from Sunday through Tuesday.
Most of the counties will enjoy sunny afternoons after the morning cloud cover clears.

Coast to Experience Warm Weather as Northeastern Kenya Remains Hot
The Coast region will remain generally warm, with only isolated light showers.
Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi are expected to receive light morning showers on Sunday and Monday before sunny conditions dominate for the rest of the week.
Maximum temperatures along the coast will range between 28°C and 30°C, while minimum temperatures will remain between 20°C and 24°C.
Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta are expected to experience mainly sunny conditions throughout the forecast period.
Most northeastern counties will remain hot and dry despite occasional morning cloud cover.
Garissa, Wajir and Marsabit are expected to experience cloudy mornings followed by sunny intervals.
Mandera will record the highest temperatures in the country, with daytime temperatures reaching 37°C, while Garissa and Wajir are expected to record highs of between 33°C and 34°C.
Temperatures Across the Country
The coldest conditions are expected in Nyandarua, where minimum temperatures will fall to 6°C.
Other cold counties include Nyeri, Kiambu, Nairobi, Laikipia, Samburu and Kajiado, where temperatures are expected to drop to between 7°C and 10°C during the mornings.
Meanwhile, Mandera, Turkana, Tana River, Makueni and the Coast region will continue experiencing the warmest conditions, with daytime temperatures ranging from 30°C to 37°C.
