Iran has warned European countries against joining the ongoing strikes by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran.
During a weekly press briefing in Tehran on Tuesday, March 3, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, stated that such actions would be regarded as an act of war and an attack on the country.
“It would be an act of war. Any such act against Iran would be regarded as complicity with the aggressors. It would be regarded as an act of war against Iran,” said Esmaeil Baqaei.
Esmaeil Baqaei argued that stripping off its ability to respond to attacks would effectively side with what he termed “the aggressors,” warning that such a move would amount to openly taking sides in the escalating regional conflict.
European Nations Warn of Joining the Ongoing War
France, Germany, and the United Kingdom (UK) said on Sunday they are prepared to take defensive action against Iran to protect their interests and allies in the Gulf, following the missile and drone strikes across the region.
In a joint statement, the three governments described the attacks as indiscriminate and disproportionate, arguing that the targeted countries were not involved in the initial US-Israeli military operations.
“We call on Iran to stop these reckless attacks immediately. We will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially through enabling necessary and proportionate defensive action to destroy Iran’s capability to fire missiles and drones at their source,” read part of the statement.
They added that they have agreed to work closely with the United States and regional allies to address the ongoing fight.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK has approved a United States request to use British bases to launch strikes against the missiles.
Iran’s Conflict With Israel and the United States
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Iran after weeks of military buildup and escalating threats.
According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the goal of the operation is to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to defend the American people by eliminating what he described as imminent threats from the government.

Israeli officials later confirmed that strikes by the Israel Defense Forces targeted key sites in Tehran. Additional U.S. strikes reportedly hit military facilities in Isfahan, Karaj, Kermanshah, Qum, and Tabriz.
Iran retaliated by firing ballistic missiles at Israel and U.S. facilities across the Middle East, including in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
