The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has announced that it has killed Asghar Bagheri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force’s Unit 840, in a precision airstrike in Tehran.
Bagheri was accused of directing attacks against Israeli and American targets worldwide and coordinating proxy operations in Syria.
“Eliminated: Asghar Bagheri, Commander of the Quds Force’s Special Operations Unit. In recent years, Bagheri has advanced numerous attacks against both Israel and worldwide. In addition, Bagheri personally commanded operations targeting IDF soldiers on the Syrian-Israel border,” the statement read.
Earlier on, the IDF confirmed the elimination of Majid Khademi amid the ongoing talks between Tehran and Washington.
Israel Says Quds Force Unit 840 Commander Killed in Tehran
IDF announced that it had killed Asghar Bagheri, a senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in a precision airstrike carried out in Tehran.

According to IDF, Bagheri headed Unit 840 of the Quds Force, a covert division responsible for external operations.
The strike is part of a broader military campaign targeting senior Iranian figures.
In the same wave of operations, Israel also reported the killing of Majid Khademi, head of the IRGC’s intelligence arm, in Tehran.
Asghar Bagheri’s Role in Overseas Attacks and Regional Operations
According to Israeli military statements, Bagheri played a central role in directing attacks against Israeli and American interests worldwide. He is said to have overseen operations involving proxy networks, including operatives based in Syria.
Unit 840, which Bagheri commanded, has been described by the IDF as a specialized arm of the Quds Force responsible for exporting operations beyond Iran’s borders.
These activities include recruiting operatives, coordinating attacks, and supporting militant infrastructure in multiple regions.
IDF also alleged that the unit was involved in efforts to target Israeli soldiers along the Syrian-Israel border using locally recruited operatives, as well as facilitating weapons transfers intended for attacks inside Israel.

Series of Strikes Targeting senior IRGC figures
The killing of Bakri comes amid an ongoing series of Israeli and U.S. strikes targeting senior Iranian military and intelligence officials.
Multiple high-ranking IRGC figures have been killed in targeted airstrikes, including intelligence leaders and commanders involved in coordinating regional operations.
