Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that the first-ever trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States will take place in the United Arab Emirates.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on 22nd January 2025, Zelensky confirmed that the talks are scheduled to last two days.
During the Forum, Zelensky also met with Donald Trump.
“It will be tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, yes, I hope that Emirates knows about it,” said Zelensky.
The talks will begin at a technical level and are intended to open channels of dialogue amid continued fighting, missile attacks, and energy disruptions across Ukraine.

First Trilateral Talks Hosted by the UAE
According to Zelensky, the meetings in the Emirates will mark the first time representatives from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States are engaged in a trilateral format since the full-scale war began.
He explained that Ukrainian officials are already holding discussions with American counterparts, after which U.S. representatives are expected to engage with Russian officials.
The talks are expected to span two days, though Zelensky acknowledged uncertainty about the exact timing and structure of the engagements.
He also hinted that the arrangements were largely coordinated by the American side, describing them as one of several unexpected diplomatic initiatives that emerge during periods of intense negotiations.
“Sometimes we have such surprises from the American side, yeah. But in any way they will go there, and I think this is good if on the technical level we’ll begin this trilateral meeting,” added Zelensky.

Zelensky Meeting with Trump
Zelensky also shared from his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, describing it as productive and shared that documents are ready ahead of the tomorow’s meeting in the UAE.
“A good meeting with Potus productive and substantive. We discussed the work of our teams, and practically every day there are meetings or communication. The documents are now even better prepared,” he said.
He added that air defense remained a key topic, expressing gratitude for previous U.S. support and requesting additional assistance.
“We also spoke today about air defense for Ukraine. Our previous meeting with President Trump helped strengthen the protection of our skies, and I hope that this time we will reinforce it further as well. I thanked him for the previous package of air defense missiles and asked for an additional one,” read the post.
