Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that the suspect in the Lviv attack has been arrested.
Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko reported on the detention of an individual suspected of carrying out the terrorist attack in Lviv.
According to Zelenskyy, the Lviv attack killed one person and left twenty-five people injured.
“Twenty-five people were injured, and one person was killed. My condolences to the family and loved ones,” Zelenskyy’s statement read.
The attack involved explosions triggered during a police response to an emergency call, marking a rare terrorist incident in western Ukraine amid the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Following the arrest, the Ukrainian government will provide all the necessary resources to aid the investigation into the attacks.
“The required procedural actions involving the detainee are ongoing,” Zelenskyy stated. He explained that the government will take legal action against the suspect accordingly.
Lviv Attack
The attack on Lviv took place in the early hours of February 22 in Central Lviv, Western Ukraine, on Danylyshyna Street.
A false emergency call was made to lure the police crew to the scene, and they responded.
Explosives were detonated when the patrol arrived, and another explosive also went off when the backup arrived.
A 23-year-old female police officer, Viktoriya Shpylka, died shortly due to the injuries she sustained during the attack.
