The Kremlin has said that Russian troops will “destroy” any foreigners fighting alongside Ukrainian forces, claiming that its soldiers have been hearing foreign languages, including English, on the battlefield. This has raised concerns about whether there are US soldiers fighting for Ukraine.
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday, October 28, that Moscow’s forces had intercepted foreign speech, which he said confirmed the presence of non-Ukrainian combatants at the front.
Russia to ‘Destroy’ Foreigners Fighting for Ukraine
Commenting on data from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) alleging the deployment of French troops to Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said foreign fighters are present and vowed they would be eliminated.
“These foreigners are present [in the special operation zone], and we are eliminating them. Our military continues to carry out its mission,” Peskov said.
“So, these foreigners are there, and we are destroying them. Our military will continue to do their job.”
Moscow has repeatedly asserted that troops from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) or Western personnel have been present in Ukraine, citing intercepted English and French on the front.
NATO insists it has no troops deployed on Ukrainian soil, though U.S. and European intelligence agencies are reported by media to have a significant presence in the country.

France reportedly preparing to send 2,000 Troops to Ukraine
Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) claimed that the General Staff of the French Armed Forces was preparing to send a military contingent of up to 2,000 soldiers and officers to Ukraine in support of Kyiv.
According to the SVR press bureau, the French units are being formed to support the government in Kyiv.
The report states that elements of the French Foreign Legion have already been stationed in areas of Poland bordering Ukraine, where they are undergoing intensive combat coordination and training.
Their transfer to the central regions of Ukraine is expected in the near future.
“Macron dreams of a military intervention in Ukraine and still hopes to go down in history as a warlord. In accordance with his orders, the General Staff of the French Armed Forces is preparing to send a military contingent of 2,000 soldiers and officers to Ukraine to support the Kyiv regime,” the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service said in a statement.
“The core of the force will be special forces from the French Foreign Legion, mainly from Latin American countries. According to information received by the SVR, currently “the legionnaires have already been deployed in the Polish regions bordering Ukraine and are undergoing intensive combat training.”

This comes after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that Moscow has no plans to attack any NATO or European Union member states, and Moscow is ready to formalize this in security guarantees.
“By the way, we have repeatedly stated that we have no intentions of attacking any current member country of NATO or the European Union,” Lavrov said.
“We are ready to consolidate this position in future security guarantees for this part of Eurasia,” he noted.
