The government, through the Directorate of Veterinary Services, State Department for Livestock Development in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, has announced internship opportunities for veterinary graduates across Kenya.
According to a notice released by the State Department for Livestock, the internship programme targets veterinary surgeons and veterinary paraprofessionals who graduated in the year 2025 or earlier.
“Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development announces internship vacancies for veterinary surgeons and veterinary paraprofessionals who graduated in the year 2025 or earlier,” read part of their statement.
Ministry of Agriculture Announces Application Dates and Deadlines
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the internship will be guided by the Internship Policy and Guidelines for the Public Service, the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Regulations of 2013, and the Kenya Veterinary Board Internship Guidelines.
“This is a statutory requirement under the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Act, No. 29 of 2011, Sections 15 (1) and 17 (1),” the Ministry noted in their statement.
The internships are scheduled to begin in January 2026, and the application deadline is set for November 14, 2025, according to the ministry.
Mandatory Requirements for the Internship
Candidates seeking placement in the internship program should meet the following requirements as listed by the Ministry:

- Temporary registration as a veterinary intern for the year 2026 by the Kenya Veterinary Board
- Have a letter from a training institution (BVM, BSc, Diploma or Certificate level) from universities and other institutions recognised by the Kenya Veterinary Board
- Have a KCPE Certificate
- Must have a KCSE Certificate
- Have a national Identity Card
- Have a KRA PIN Certificate
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
- NHIF Card
- NSSF Card
- Personal Accident Insurance Cover
- Bank account in your name
- Two recent passport-size photographs

- The outcome of your application will be communicated through the email address indicated in your application
