Ibrahim Saney is a Kenyan politician and is the current Member of Parliament representing Wajir North Constituency in Kenya.
Early Life & Education
Ibrahim Saney was born in Korondille town, within the Buna area of Wajir County.
He attended Korondille Primary School in 1992, where he left in 1989 after attaining his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education.
He then went on to attend Wajir High School in 1990 for his secondary education and successfully earned his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in 1993.
In 1995, Ibrahim Saney enrolled in Egerton University to obtain a degree in Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources, successfully completing the course in 2005.
In a quest to broaden his expertise, he later enrolled in 2018 at the United States International University–Africa, studying Criminal Justice, and subsequently took up a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Nairobi, both qualifications still in progress.
Career
Professional career
Saney began his career at the Kulmiye Pastoral Association, a community-based organization working in pastoralist areas of northern Kenya.
As a Project Officer, he coordinated livestock development programs, natural resource management projects, and initiatives aimed at improving food security among pastoralist households.
In 2009, he rose to the role of Programme Coordinator, still at Kulmiye Pastoral Association, where he oversaw multiple donor-funded projects, supervised field officers, and reported on outcomes to development partners.
Saney shifted into media and public communication by becoming the Director of Wajir Community Radio in 2012.
Under his leadership, the radio station aired programs on governance, inter-clan harmony, and women’s participation in development.

Saney was then appointed to the Board of the Insurance Regulatory Authority, where he served from 2020 until 2022.
Political career
Saney made his entry into national politics in March 2013, contesting on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket under the CORD coalition and winning the Wajir North parliamentary seat.
He was re-elected in the 2022 general elections, now representing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In his earlier parliamentary term (2013–2017), Saney was a member of both the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security and the Committee on Delegated Legislation.
