The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has shortlisted eight candidates for the position of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
In a notice on Friday, July 19, NPSC said it shortlisted four candidates for the position of DIG, Kenya Police, and four for the position of DIG, Administration Police Service.
“The following 8 number of candidates have been shortlisted and scheduled to appear before the Commission for interviews on Monday, 22nd July 2024 as indicated here below,” read part of the notice.
Acting DIG, Kenya Police, Eliud Kipkoech Lagat is among the candidates who have been shortlisted to occupy the position.
Lagat, who is also the Uasin Gishu Senior AIG (S/AIG), will appear before the Commission at 10:15 am.
President William Ruto appointed Lagat to take over from Douglas Kanja Kirocho, who was named the acting Inspector General (IG) of Police after the resignation of former IG Japhet Koome.
Homa Bay Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) George Adero Sedah and Tom Mboya Odero have been shortlisted for the position of DIG, Kenya Police.
Adero will appear before the Commission at 9:30 am, while Odero will be interviewed at 11:30 am.
Bungoma AIG Dr. Vincent Kinas Makokha has also been shortlisted and will be interviewed at 12:15 pm.
“The interviews will be conducted at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Campus, Nairobi,” the Commission said.
DIG Administration Police Service
NPSC also shortlisted Administration Police Service Acting DIG James Mukuha Kamau, who will be interviewed at 3:30 pm.
Additionally, Bungoma AIG Gilbert Masengeli, his Kirinyanga counterpart Margaret Nyambura, and Kwale S/AIG Dr. Masoud Mwinyi have been shortlisted for the position of DIG, Administration Police Service.
Masengeli will be interviewed at 2:00 pm, Nyambura will face the Commission from 2:45 pm, and Mwinyi will close at 4:15 pm.
“The candidates should appear for the interview in No.1 Uniform,” NPSC said.

NPSC lists Requirements
Candidates should bring original copies of their National Identity Card, academic certificates, including transcripts and professional certificates, and any other supporting documents and testimonials.
“Successful candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the CoK 2010 by submitting certificates from the following institutions: Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission, Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and Credit Reference Bureau,” NPSC said.

Public Participation
Members of the public are invited to submit any information relating to the shortlisted candidates through written memoranda to the Chairperson, NPSC.
The memoranda should be delivered at CBK Pension Towers, 10th Floor, or online through digrecruitment@npsc.go.ke.
It should be received on or before Monday, 22nd July 2024, at 8:00 am East African Time (EAT).
