Teachers seeking a transfer to a new school under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) can now do so entirely online through the TSC portal.
This a process designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
If it’s for personal reasons, medical grounds, or professional growth, understanding the procedure can make the difference between a quick approval and a frustrating delay.
To start the process, teachers must log in to the official TSC website and access the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) or the Teacher Transfer portal.

Once there, they should use their TSC number, National ID, and registered mobile number to receive a one-time authentication code for verification.

After logging in, users can select the option labeled Submit a Request for Transfer.
The system automatically detects the teacher’s school level, primary or secondary and prompts them to provide essential information, including their current workstation, preferred new location, and any supporting documents, such as medical reports or spousal proximity letters.
Teachers can choose between two modes: a direct transfer or a mutual swap with another teacher.
After filling out the details and ticking the declaration box, the teacher submits the application for review.
The request then moves to the head of the current institution, who must log in to their own portal to either recommend or decline the application. Without this recommendation, the transfer cannot proceed.
How teachers can Track Transfer Status
Once submitted, teachers can track the progress of their applications online. The portal displays several possible statuses:

Acknowledged: meaning the request is under review and awaiting a vacancy or replacement.
Not Approved: indicating the transfer cannot be processed at the moment.
Approved: confirming that the transfer has been authorized.
According to the TSC, most transfer approvals are finalized during school holidays to minimize disruption to learning.
Successful applicants receive official instructions on when to report to their new station once the transfer is effected.
The final decision depends on factors such as the availability of a vacancy, a suitable replacement, and the Commission’s internal staffing policies.
Teachers should plan ahead and ensure their details are accurate before submitting requests to avoid delays.
